The trail offers a unique opportunity to look at the long history of Coatham village with its Anglo-Saxon origins and medieval port and the effect of the railway on its development. This contrasts with the more recent model village of Warrenby, built to house iron and steel workers; remnants of the community are still visible despite modern conversion to an industrial estate.

Mostly surfaced pavements but return to car park along bridleway by side of golf course.

Booking essential at walkingfestival@redcar-cleveland.gov.uk; £2 charge per person.
